Seeking novel, mobile technology-based innovations to enhance early grade reading scores in developing countries. May also adapt or apply existing mobile-based technologies in new and innovative ways.
The Big Idea
A sofware that enables teachers and students to read, write, and share books using a local digital library and a kid-friendly storytelling application. The project worked in collaboration with Haitian teachers to incorporate these tools in the classroom. A research component was also included, in which the progress of a group that uses the technology is compared to another that reads the same books and learns the same lessons using paper.
