The Challenge

Literacy instruction in the Armenian education system remains dependent on old Soviet textbook driven systems of schooling and curriculum. Furthermore, teachers do not have relevant reading literacy assessment instruments in Armenian.

The Big Idea

This project aims to develop and field-test a set of informal literacy assessment instruments in the Armenian language for use by primary school teachers to inform literacy instruction in primary grades and develop and field-test tutoring procedures to support the literacy development of students who are reading below grade level.
