The Global Book Alliance (GBA) has released a video highlighting the work of All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD) as the first in its new Partner Spotlight Series.

GBA is a partnership of donor agencies, multilateral institutions, and civil society organizations that are committed to bringing books to every child in the world by 2030. The Alliance was formed in 2018 in order to bring together global education partners to end illiteracy through a coordinated effort to shape the book market to better address  the growing book gap challenge.

As part of the Alliance Steering Committee, ACR GCD helps guide GBA work and strategy, collaborates on high-impact, multi-faceted initiatives, and advocates for the widespread adoption of best practices among global organizations and governments.

In the video, ACR GCD Chief of Party Sergio Ramirez-Mena shares how ACR GCD is working to increase access to education and literacy in the midst of a global crisis in learning.

“As a partner in the Global Book Alliance, All Children Reading shares the vision of a world where all children have access to quality books that they can use to learn to read, read to learn and develop a love for reading,” says Ramirez-Mena.

To accomplish that vision, ACR GCD acts as a sandbox for innovation, absorbing the risk of research and development for EdTech solutions to increase literacy by funding innovators to develop new open-source solutions in reading, test their impact, and help bring the most successful solutions to scale to reach more children.

Watch the video below to learn more about these solutions or visit our Solutions Hub, where you can access a wide range of free EdTech solutions–ranging from digital books and libraries to book creation software to learning apps and games–to increase literacy for children in low-resource contexts.
