We get it; you’re busy. Your time is valuable, and you don’t have hours to spend searching for the best education technology solutions on the internet. All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development’s (ACR GCD) newly designed website now makes it easier for you to access free, open source tools, research and solutions to help children in low resource contexts learn to read. With all of this information in one place, you can focus on what really matters—doing your part to make the world a better place.
There has never been a greater need for EdTech to improve literacy. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased education challenges, and there are currently 584 million children worldwide who lack basic reading skills. ACR GCD is committed to making learning more accessible, and we redesigned our website to reflect this commitment.
The new website is divided into three hubs: solutions, toolkits and research.
Feed the Monster
The Solutions Hub highlights the latest, evidence-based developments in education technology. We believe in harnessing the power of technology to increase reading outcomes and lift children out of poverty. Apps like Feed the Monster, which was developed in 2016 during the Syrian refugee crisis and is now available in more than 50 languages, empower children to read using entertaining learning games that they can use anywhere in the world. All of our solutions, from digital books on platforms like Global Digital Library to World Around You sign language book creation software, are open source and free.
The Guides and Toolkit Hub provides toolkits, reports and webinars to help you make informed decisions about improving child literacy. Search for desired focus areas, such as children with disabilities or books in underserved languages, and use our guides to plan your organization’s strategy.
